Networking for fundraising with Jasmine

Updated: Mar 7, 2023

We are so excited for summer 2022 and taking all of our amazing teams out to Kilimanjaro- how are you feeling about it and what made you want to take on the challenge?

As the days go past, I have been becoming more and more excited about the trip and can’t wait for it to start! Every time I make a fundraising event as well, the anticipation and excitement peaks - I really can’t wait! I wanted to take this challenge up because it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I couldn’t miss. And I felt that this is something I would have wanted to do anyway once in my life and now I can do it knowing that I am also doing it for other people other than myself - and that really is important to me.

Fundraising in itself is a challenge but you have gotten off to a brilliant start, what sort of things have you been up to?

The initial amount of money that came in was from me telling all my friends and family about the trip - using WhatsApp mainly (people feel more obliged to reply). Then I threw a ‘Kocktails for Kenya’ fundraising event for all my neighbours which was a huge success- they have asked me to do it again for Christmas! I also combined my birthday party to become a fundraising event which brought in a little more money. Other than that I have been constantly reminding people on social media about it and this has led to some more generous donations.

Have you got any plans for future events and reaching your overall target?

I am hoping to do a collaborative fundraising event soon - perhaps a music show. I just will try and keep up doing funky different events regularly.

What are you most looking forward to once you get to Tanzania?

Would it be lame to say - the peak of Kilimanjaro? But also the challenge and hopefully overcome it. I’m also looking forward to meeting lots of new people who are also crazy enough to take part in this challenge!

Is there any advice you would give to someone who is thinking of signing up but might be worried about the fundraising side of things?

Don’t worry about your fitness level - there are lots of us who are not massively keen on sports and are still taking on this journey!

Thank you so much for chatting to us Jasmine, we can't wait to see the rest of your fundraising come together! Remember, If you have any upcoming fundraising events, make sure to tag us in your photos!

Or, if you have been inspired to take on the challenge yourself then registrations to join our 2022 Kilimanjaro teams are now open. Head over to our website to find your closest team or join one of our upcoming information sessions.
