8-year-old Isla shows the way!
Isla is 8 years old and attends Belle Vue Primary School in Wordsley, Stourbridge. Her Dad, Daniel, explains to us how she has joined him in fundraising for Dig Deep and is inspiring those around her.
When she saw the fundraising work I was doing for Dig Deep she wanted to help and decided to complete her own 3 peaks challenge in aid of this amazing cause.
In the summer of 2021, Isla climbed to the top of Snowdon, which was an incredible achievement given she was only 6 years old. Then the following year she made it to the top of the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike, and enjoyed it so much she set her sights on climbing Ben Nevis and completing her very own 3 peak challenge for Dig Deep.
We plan on heading up to Fort William at the end of May and hopefully, Isla can get to the top of Ben Nevis and finish her first-ever charity challenge having climbed the highest peaks in Wales, England, and Scotland.
As parents, myself and my wife Nadia are so proud of her and what she has achieved so far, and hope that the work Dig Deep does will inspire her and her classmates to take on incredible adventures in years to come (maybe even Kilimanjaro!).
Not only is she taking on the 3 Peaks Challenge but, on World Water Day 2023 Isla joined us in giving an assembly to the whole school, discussing the challenges that certain parts of the world face in terms of poor water quality and lack of safe sanitation and then went on to explain how Dig Deep is helping those who need it the most.
The whole school got involved and supported Isla with a dress down and a bake sale and raised an incredible £556.50!
Equally importantly, we hope we raised awareness of water quality and access in Africa and the work Dig Deep is doing to tackle this.
Isla you are a shining example of the amazing supporters we have at Dig Deep and we want to say a huge thank you to you, Daniel, Nadia, and Belle Vue Primary School for all of your fundraising efforts. You are a future Kilimanjaro Team Leader in the making and we can't wait to see what you do next!
